Considering the spread of Coronavirus, Toronto, the biggest city in Canada, is moving back to the lockdown. Not only will lockdown effect Canadian citizens, but many American citizens who were planning to spend their Thanksgiving break at Canada are struggling to discover another way to enjoy the break.

Regarding the uprising spread of Coronavirus, Canada officials are banning any indoor social gathering or events. In addition, any outdoor gathering with more than 10 people will be limited. Doug Ford, Premier for Ontario, opened a press-conference November 19.

“We need every single person, every single household and every single business doing their part,” Ford said.

While most of the citizens are following official’s health guideline, there are still some outsiders; over the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, government confirmed active usage of restaurant and public facility. Currently about 5000 new cases of coronavirus are discovered every day at the country.

“Private social gatherings continue to be a significant source of transmission in many local communities, along with outbreak clusters in restaurants, bars, and other food and drink establishments, including strip clubs, with most cases in the 20-39 age group,” the government announced.

In Canada, those under the age of 40 are responsible for two-thirds or more of all the infections.

Although Canada’s economy recovered compared to March and April when the country was in shutdown, by August 1.9 million jobs have been recovered. Still, there are still a big gap to fill for Canada to be back into normal status.

Ongoing spread of Coronavirus are also influencing American citizens. Until last year, many Canadian sighting spots such as Whistler or Vancouver were filled with American citizens. This year, there are none. Travel restrictions in Canada-US land border were extended, in aim to step on the brake on spread on virus. Justin Trudeau, Canadian Prime Minister announced November 20.

“We’ve extended the current border measures by another 30 days,” Trudeau said. “Non-essential travel between our two countries remains restricted until at least December 21st.”

Families of Skyline High School had been planning to travel to Canada, but had to abandon them. A mother of student is surprised by the unprecedent situation.

“This is the first time in 10 years I am spending Thanksgiving at Seattle,” student’s mother said. “Maybe we will just spend four days relaxing at home.”

People worldwide is longing for a day when they can finally visit Canada and safely enjoy the wonderful sightseeing areas. Skyline community can help the day to come earlier by staying safe and supporting the people in great difficulty.
