As 2023 fall sports wrap up, each team has provided another season of excitement. Girls Soccer, Football, Volleyball, Girls Swim and Dive, Cross Country, Boys Tennis, and Boys Golf each left their individual marks and look forward to deep postseason runs.
GIRLS SOCCER
Year after year, Skyline’s Girl’s Soccer program continues to carry on their winning legacy. The dominant squad claimed the KingCo Championship for the third year in a row with their 2-0 win over the Redmond Mustangs and secured the District Championship with a 4-0 win over the Woodinville Falcons.
After an impressive regular season performance, the Lady Spartans brought their undefeated record to the 4A WIAA State Playoffs as the 1st seed. Dominating the State bracket once again, the team achieved their goal of winning the State Championship for the second year in a row, defeating rival Issaquah along the way.
The accomplished group also earned many individual league honors in addition to their ongoing success.

FOOTBALL
The Varsity football team never ceases to entertain throughout the fall season. Over the course of two months, the team’s performance was highlighted by dominant wins over league rivals Issaquah and Mount Si.
The Spartans ended the regular season with a 6-3 record, earning the 12th seed in the 4A WIAA State Playoffs. The squad’s playoff run concluded on November 11th, when they fell to Skyview in the first round of the State Playoffs.
Despite the unfortunate early exit, the talented roster includes several players with league honors, representing the team’s hard work and determination.

VOLLEYBALL
The Varsity Volleyball team wrapped up their regular season with a record of 11-2, earning 2nd place in KingCo. The team left it all out on the court by sweeping Issaquah, Newport, and Mount Si.
With another sensational game, the Lady Spartans won 3-1 win against Mount Si, securing their ticket to the State Playoffs. Entering as the 16th seed, the team was put up against 1st seed Olympia at the Yakima Sun Dome. Skyline fought to the very end, but fell to both Olympia and Kennedy Catholic, putting an end to their season.
In addition to earning their trip to state, the team earned various individual honors for their impressive performances throughout the season.

GIRLS SWIM AND DIVE
The Girls Swim and Dive team’s season came to a close at the 4A WIAA State Championships on November 10 and 11. The Spartans claimed 14th place overall with a combined final score of 74.
Impressive individual performances included Mira Guo taking fourth place in the 200-yard Individual Medley Finals, followed by Jocasta Xie who secured seventh place. Guo also placed fifth in the 100-yard Breaststroke Finals.
The 200-yard Medley Relay team, Riain O’Neil, Mira Guo, Jocasta Xie, and Abby Arroyo, finished eighth in the final event of the season.
CROSS COUNTRY
The Cross Country team represented Skyline well throughout the fall season and continued to do so at the KingCo and State Championships.
Starting with the girls, Senior Anna Callahan claimed first place in KingCo for the second year in a row with a time of 17:23.70. Following closely behind, senior Rebecca O’Keefe took 2nd place with a time of 17:48.10 (prior to suffering a foot injury and being unable to compete at State), and junior Sydney Collier claimed 11th place at 18:54.30.
On the boys side, Reidar Aageson secured 8th place with a time of 16:15.80, followed by Yashveer Brar who finished in 10th place at 16:17.60.
The Lady Spartans then brought their success to the 4A WIAA State Championships that took place on Nov. 4. The girls took 7th place overall and were well-represented by Anna Callahan, who claimed first place, and Sydney Collier, who took 8th place.
BOYS TENNIS
The Boys Varsity Tennis team finished the regular season with a stellar 7-2 record. The 4A WIAA State Tennis Championships take place May 24-25, 2024. Be sure to check the WIAA website for updates closer to the spring sports season.
BOYS GOLF
The Boys Varsity Golf team ended their regular season with a record of 3-3. Freshman Ethan Schwan will represent Skyline at the 4A WIAA State Golf Championships are set for May 21-22, 2024.
Schwan also received the KingCo Player of the Year Award for his impressive season on the course. Remember to check the WIAA website for state playoff bracket updates as we approach the spring sports season.
