Spanish music is now the second most listened-to language in music across the U.S according to the Variety articles that speaks on the influence of Spanish music. Over time Latin music has gained more and more fame throughout the years. An important figure in the Spanish music industry would be Bad Bunny who is often also referred to as Benito.
A fellow Skyline High school student Valentina Rodriguez recently attended the Bad Bunny concert here in Seattle
“He combines many genres of music like right now his newest album is more based on trap style music but his past album Un Verano Sin Ti has more of a mix of merengue, calmer vibes, and like party music, not a lot of Hispanic artists have this diverse style of music.” Rodriguez said.
In a Times Magazine article Bad Bunny stated that his biggest goal was to become the biggest artist in the world, last year his 5th solo album “Un Verano Sin Ti” was Billboard’s top-performing album of the year, beating out Taylor Swift and Harry Styles.
Bad Bunny has also said the key to most of his successes was his mentality to just be Benito while other artists tend to hide certain parts of themselves, Benito has refused to compromise; in the language he sings in, political standpoints, and his fashion and beauty choices. Times Magazine writes.
More recently, Bad Bunny had a concert on March 10, also his birthday. Many of his fans attended this concert and were taken by surprise of how great Benito’s stage presence and voice was.
Valentina Rodriguez attended the concert and had her own experience with how wonderful the experience was.
“You could feel the vibes, and you could feel the emotions Bad Bunny was feeling in the moment he was connecting with the crowd so well” Rodriguez states.
“and moments like this are where it feels so special because it felt like it was just me and him in this moment.” Rodriguez adds.
“I don’t know how to even explain the experience because it was such an emotional and jaw-dropping moment.” Rodriguez said.
While many fans are very passionate about his music, there are always so many controversies around his music and who he really is, Bad Bunny clears up most of the false allegations or rumors made towards him in his song “Nadie Sabe (nobody knows)”
“La gente tiene que parar de ser tan estupida y pensar que conocen la vida de lo’ famoso”
His lyrics say.
These words mean that people need to stop acting like they know his life and the life of other celebrities because it can affect them in negative ways. For example a few months back Bad Bunny won the title of “King of Pop” which sparked lots of backlash and people to turn on him when he wasn’t the one to crown himself the award.
Valentina Rodriguez believes in these lyrics and appreciates the meaning behind them.
“I feel like it is just giving an insight on how people view the world and how we see the world differently and when people make comments on someone’s life or rumors.” Rodriguez said.
“They don’t realize the true meaning behind what they say and sometimes makeup” Rodriguez continues.
Bad Bunny’s merch at the concert also was a big thing throughout the fans especially because of the amazing quality and design on the clothing and accessories but also because of the thought and meaning put into the franchise.
For example, on many of the shirts there was a quote imprinted on it that stuck with many fans like Valentina Rodriguez.
“Nadie sabe lo que va pasar manana. No lo dejes escapar. Por que quizas no lo vuelvas a ver.”
The merch says.
This quote is just stating how nobody knows what will happen tomorrow so cherish every moment because you may never see them again. Many fans were left in awe because of how deep and meaningful this was. Many fans were moved to tears and even some went on to show their appreciation for him by chanting his name at the show.
Bad Bunny has set many new standards for new Latin artists and has broken so many records and found his voice in his career. He has lots of fans that stand by him and the internet and even many people love him.
Valentina Rodriguez also feels more connected to the Hispanic culture when listening to his songs.
“his music makes me feel more connected to my culture in a way, obviously I don’t live in a Latin country so sometimes I feel disconnected or out of touch and when I listen to Benito it makes me feel like I am there and also makes me feel more in touch and way better.”
Valentina says.
She speaks on behalf of many fans and his music does not go unnoticed.
