After years of planning and facing dissent, the city of Sammamish is finally moving forward with the ambitious Town Center project.
Located near the intersection of 228th Avenue SE and SE 4th Street (near Metropolitan Market), the Sammamish Town Center aims to create a walkable community with residential, commercial, and public spaces. The development will offer Sammamish residents a place where they can live, shop, work, and gather — without needing to travel outside of the city.
The project will feature over 1,000 new residential units, including affordable housing options to address the area’s growing population. Along with housing, the Town Center will have a variety of retail stores and restaurants, giving residents and community members access to services and entertainment within Sammamish. The plan for this town center has a focus on sustainability, including plans for green infrastructure, parks, and trails that weave through the center.
A part of the development includes a pedestrian-friendly design. The Town Center will prioritize walkability, with wide sidewalks, bike lanes, and public gathering spaces. These features are intended to create a strong sense of community. The project is also expected to stimulate local economic growth while at the same time providing much-needed recreational and civic spaces for residents.
Construction is expected to begin soon, with the first phase anticipated to be completed by 2025. This project marks a new era for Sammamish, as the Town Center becomes a new central part of the city, creating convenience, sustainability, and community connection all at once.
