A hackathon is a high-energy event in which participants brainstorm, design, and build technology-based solutions in a short time—typically 24 to 48 hours. It’s a perfect blend of creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving, allowing participants to learn new skills and tackle meaningful projects.
This February, Skyline’s Technovation Club is hosting TechnoHacks, a hackathon for middle and high school students in the Issaquah School District. Inspired by Technovation, the global tech entrepreneurship competition, participants will create innovative solutions to real-world challenges aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
TechnoHacks isn’t just for coders—it’s also great for future entrepreneurs. Participants will learn real-world business concepts and pitch their projects to judges. Entrepreneurial workshops and mentorship will help build brainstorming, leadership, and communication skills.
“I’m excited for TechnoHacks because it will help strengthen my coding skills,” remarked Shriya Gopal, a sophomore at Skyline who’s preregistered for the hackathon. The event will also teach participants how to strategically leverage technology to create value—an essential skill for business leaders.
TechnoHacks will feature workshops, mentorship, hands-on programming, and entrepreneurial activities. Teams will compete for exciting prizes and receive support no matter their skill level.
“Our goal is to provide a space where you can be creative and grow while developing important professional skills,” said Riya Chopade, the club treasurer. Judges don’t expect fully developed apps by the end of the event but will look for innovative ideas, thoughtful designs, and business potential.
The Technovation Club invites all aspiring coders, entrepreneurs, and problem-solvers to join them at Skyline on February 8 and 9 for a weekend of innovation, learning, and fun. Whether you’re a seasoned programmer, a business enthusiast, or a curious beginner, TechnoHacks promises to be an unforgettable experience.
