Whether you’re a die-hard Swiftie or are totally against her music, you’ve definitely heard of Taylor Swift, and she has made sure of that in more ways than one. According to a Forbes article, “Swift, 34, became the first musician to become a billionaire solely based on the value of songs and performances in 2023.” It’s very clear that the American singer-songwriter has mastered not only music composition and performance, but marketing as well.
How has Swift impacted the U.S. economy? According to an article published by WAPT, fans traveling and booking hotels for her concerts have played a major role in this hospitality phenomenon, coined “The Taylor Swift Effect.” “The California Center for Jobs & the Economy estimated that Swift’s six-night concert run in Los Angeles increased local employment by 3,300 workers and local earnings by $160 million.”
Many cities experienced “record-breaking” profits because of her concerts, but it doesn’t stop there. Swift gave all her crew workers, including her dancers, truck drivers, and stage managers, generous bonuses, totaling over $55 million, changing the lives of so many workers.
With her fame, Swift has strived to educate the coming generations. It has been acknowledged that her Eras Tour dancers are very diverse, spreading the message that all people can follow their dreams. She uses her wealth to support libraries, schools, humanitarian aid, natural disaster relief, food banks and more.
Multiple sources have mentioned how Swift sets incredible examples, on and off stage, and how wonderful she is to work with. Through her personality, songs and music videos, Swift openly expresses her feelings and handles uncomfortable situations and hate very maturely, encouraging her audience to connect with and embrace all of life’s ups and downs. Or, to quote Swift: just “shake it off”.
