The Cybertruck, the all-electric pickup truck, is the first Tesla vehicle that supports bidirectional charging. Through its Powershare technology, it can provide energy to devices, homes, and other vehicles through embedded power outlets.
Jasmine M., a Skyline student whose family is considering purchasing a Cybertruck, states that, “the ability for the Cybertruck to act as a mega-sized portable charger was an important feature of the car.”

After purchasing the Powershare Home Backup feature, the Cybertruck can “provide backup power to your home with up to 11.5 kW of power for up to three days” during power outages. Moreover, the Cybertruck can detect a power outage and automatically provide backup energy to homes.
Solar panels or Solar Roof may be installed on a Cybertruck, increasing its driving range and enhancing its Powershare abilities. “When paired with solar panels or Solar Roof, [users] can extend [the] backup duration” of power to their homes by charging their vehicles with solar power. Solar panels can harness solar energy when the Cybertruck is parked or in motion, generating approximately 1.5kW of power depending on weather conditions.
The Cybertruck can also funnel electricity to power other electric vehicles. Through the 240 V cargo bed outlet on the Cybertruck, it can provide other electric vehicles with up to 9.6 kW of power.
Moreover, the Cybertruck can be used to power a variety of devices, from mobile phones to power tools at a construction site. The Cybertruck has a variety of onboard power outlets in the cargo bed, with both a 120V and 240V outlets for a variety of tools.
The innovative Powershare feature turns the Cybertruck into a versatile, on-demand power generator, expanding the capabilities of the Cybertruck to tasks beyond just transportation.
