Last year, Skyline’s Fighting Hunger Club raised over one-hundred pounds of food for those in need. As their name suggests, Fighting Hunger Club is dedicated to addressing the hunger crisis across all of King County. Members meet every Friday after school to plan events and food drives that support as many people in the community as possible.
Club president, senior Ramya Mohan, shares, “By joining our group, you’ll be part of a team dedicated to fighting hunger, spreading awareness, and creating meaningful change right here in our community.” Last school year, the club organized a Skyline food drive where students and staff brought non-perishable food donations right to Skyline. Club members then collected those donations and distributed them to various food banks in the area.

In the Spring of this year, members organized and participated in an informational event which took place in Seattle, which kindly educated residents on the severity of the issue of food insecurity, especially in Seattle, and ways that they can help. Fighting Hunger Club’s inspiring work truly has an astounding impact on Skyline, our greater community, and beyond.
Senior Ragen McGowan, the social media manager of the club, says “Not only do I love the friends I’ve made in Fighting Hunger Club, but I love having the opportunity to give back to my community and raise awareness of the food insecurity which many families face.” Join the Fighting Hunger Club and be a part of the movement to end hunger; one donation, one event, and one community at a time.
