Gear up Spartans for the epic homecoming of 2022. For the first time since covid restrictions students are able to make their way to Skyline High School to enjoy a “Night Under the Stars” starting at 7 p.m. on Oct. 22.

ASB has worked tirelessly to kick off the fall season to create a homecoming experience that no one will forget. They have booked a DJ with amazing music, set up a place to take photos and  arcade games that include ski ball, pop a shot basketball and Pac Man.

They have been trying hard to get our school events back to normal after covid, and this year they have finally succeeded.

Senior Geet Jodhka has been leading the homecoming ASB committee this year and says, “I am expecting a lot more people to be at the dance this year since it is one of our first normal years back, I think ASB has done a really good job of advertising the dance.”

Over a thousand tickets have been sold already and that number is expected to rise as the school gets closer to the date.

There have been rumors going around the school about having to be breathalyzed when entering the dance. Worries about this rumor stunting attendance at the dance has been making its way around the student body in the past couple of weeks.

ASB representatives have cleared up this rumor and remind students that it only exists as a precautionary tool.

“No that is not true, you will only be breathalyzed if you’re acting intoxicated,” said Lucianna Colindres.

The school is doing this for the safety and security of everyone at the dance and to make sure that no one breaks school rules.

“I personally think the school does have reason to breathalyze students if they seem intoxicated for the safety of others and themselves,” senior Catalina Darnell said.

Though even with some rumors going around, the overall vibe for homecoming is excitement. For the seniors, this is their first real homecoming since freshman year and they are happy to go back to enjoying the normal high school experience.

“It’s a great time to be with your friends, and I think it’s the best event that happens in high school,” senior Cohen Swanson said.

Even underclassmen are showing excitement for the dance to get a taste of the high school experience.

“I’m really excited for the dance and basically the whole thing because it’s my first year,” freshman Avani Bhagwat said.

In final preparation for the dance accommodations are being made for students including a water station. However, no food will be available so ASB is recommending that students go to dinner with friends or family before the dance.

Tickets will be available at the bookkeeper and also available online until Oct. 21 at 12 p.m. So, make sure to get your tickets and join in the fun this weekend.
