A round ball, a well-sized racquet, the markings on the hard clay ground, and the net rising above them. That is what makes up the sport of tennis. Skyline has a tennis team for both boys and girls. Boys’ tennis starts in the fall and ends when winter sports come around, while Girls’ tennis starts in the Spring season for sports. Both teams are split into three different divisions: Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Junior Varsity C.
Boys’ tennis this school year has had an exciting and challenging season, with Varsity going 2-8 at their conference games. Robin Gupta, a running start student playing for the tennis team, said he “had the most fun on bus rides to away games, listening to music and laughing at jokes” with the team.
Another member of the tennis team, Jun Park, agrees that Skyline Tennis’s best quality is its friendliness. He said Skyline tennis is “competitive, yet friendly,” which drove his win against Mercer Island.
For Robin Gupta, senior night at the end of the season was his favorite memory of Skyline tennis. Each senior participated in making a personalized cutout for each of their teammates, which was their favorite part.
Coaches threw a tournament within the team for both seniors and non-seniors alike, with a $20 Chipotle card as the grand prize. Each player competed against each other in a duo match. Duos were then randomly paired up between all three divisions of the tennis team.

Skyline Boys Tennis continues to uphold its values of competition and community, though the 2025 season has ended. There will always be the next season of tennis, that you can look forward to.
