At just 19 years old, Andrea Kimi Antonelli has become one of the biggest stories in Formula 1. Antonelli now has four consecutive Grand Prix: China, Japan, Miami, and Canada.
Racing for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, the Italian driver has risen from karting prodigy to Grand Prix winner in only a few years, showing the speed and maturity needed to become one of the sport’s future stars.
When seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton left Mercedes, team principal Toto Wolff chose Antonelli to replace him for the 2025 season. The Italian impressed as a rookie, but his true breakthrough came this season when he won four out of five Grand Prix.
“What he has achieved in such a short time is truly amazing, and I can’t wait to see what he will achieve in the future,” said Shoumik N., a racecar enthusiast at Skyline.
Born in Bologna, Italy, Antonelli began karting as a child under the guidance of his father, Marco Antonelli, a former racing driver and team owner. His talent was obvious from an early age, and Mercedes signed him to its junior program in 2019. From there, Antonelli dominated nearly every series he entered.
In 2022, he won the Italian Formula 4 and ADAC Formula 4 championships. He followed that by capturing the Formula Regional Middle East and Formula Regional European championships in 2023. Rather than spending time in Formula 3, Antonelli jumped directly to Formula 2 in 2024, where he won multiple races and proved he was ready for the next step.

With his calm personality, natural speed, and rapid success, Kimi Antonelli has already established himself as one of Formula 1’s brightest young stars. If he continues on this path, he could become Italy’s first Formula 1 World Champion in 73 years.
